How To Play Hearts
The goal is to score as FEW points as possible. When any player reaches 100 points the game ends and
whoever has the lowest total wins.
Rules & Movement Validation
Passing:
Before each hand you pass 3 cards: hand 1 to the left (Jack), hand 2 to the right (John), hand 3 across
(Jill), hand 4 no pass at all — then the cycle repeats.
Leading:
Whoever holds the 2 of Clubs leads the very first trick of the hand. You must follow the suit that was
led if you can. Hearts cannot be led until a heart has already been played (\"hearts broken\"), unless
you have nothing else in hand.
First Trick:
No Heart or the Queen of Spades may be played on the first trick unless you are void in Clubs and hold
only point cards.
Winning a Trick:
The highest card of the led suit wins the trick; that player leads the next one.
Scoring:
Each Heart is worth 1 point and the Queen of Spades is worth 13 points. If one player takes every point
card in a hand (\"shoots the moon\") they score 0 instead and everyone else scores 26.
